Nearly 300 people gathered outside Parliament last week in solidarity with Israelis and Palestinians seeking a grassroots-led peace process.

Department for International Development minister Shahid Malik MP and shadow foreign minister David Lidington MP led the gathering of conflict-resolution group OneVoice. Around 30 MPs were among the gathering, in which supporters recorded messages of support to be played in October for simultaneous OneVoice rallies in Tel Aviv and Ramallah.

Mr Malik, MP for Dewsbury, addressed Palestinian and Israeli people to say: ?We can only imagine the suffering you have been through, and hope that through the policies of our government and yours, we can work together to deliver a two-state solution and end the conflict.?

Mr Lidington, MP for Aylesbury, said there was a ?duty? to support OneVoice, which he described as ?an inspiration?.

OneVoice international co-ordinator Jake Hayman said: ?Israelis and Palestinians don?t have to like each other to agree on resolutions to this conflict, but they need to have input and to be involved. It?s about national self interest, not compassion.?

OneVoice has offices in London, Israel, Gaza, Ramallah and America.
